Devlog N°2
Hi Everyone! :D
We're so happy to share exciting updates on the new features we're currently developing! We've decided to break these features down into 4 distinct achievements.
Our main goals for these weeks were:
- Adding the Gear Lever View: We're pleased to announce that we've already implemented 2 out of the 4 views we intend to incorporate into our game. The addition of the gear lever view marks significant progress and will increase the views implemented to 3/4!
- The gear lever view consists of 5 forward gears and 1 neutral gear. The "lever" of the shifter can only move within its designated range and automatically detects when it changes the current gear.
- As you can see, the lever (currently represented by a Godot face) can only move within the confines of the Polygon2D shape. The neutral position is right in the middle (indicated by the red cross).
-Connecting the Lever with the Pedals: With the new gear lever view in place, we are now ready to delve deeper into refining the car's mechanics.
- To enable gear shifting, the clutch must be pressed with a certain minimum pressure. For example, when the player presses the clutch pedal, it sends a signal to the game controller to allow the shifter player to engage the gear shift. Then, the shifter can move the lever up to change gears.
- Randomizing Roles and Enhancing the Driver's View: This aspect will make the gameplay session offer a much more fun experience.
- Code-Level Changes for the Car Type: On a technical note, we're modifying the vehicle's characteristics to ensure it follows a distinct path with specific movements.
We are so excited about the outcomes these changes will bring!:D Stay tuned for more updates and information coming your way!
