Devlog N°3

Hi Everyone! :D

We are excited to announce new features implemented in our game. Our main goal this week was to make the car move like a real car. For this purpose, since our last post, we added:

  • Enhancements to the driver's perspective scene. The concept involves portraying the interior of the car, encompassing more than just the steering wheel.
  • Developed a driver's camera aimed at providing a clearer view of the road ahead. The camera's range of movement will be limited, as it wouldn't be practical for the driver to have the ability to look behind while driving. Also, because babies are small, they couldn't look anyway.
  • In a real car, you have either your foot on the accelerator or the brake, so now you can't press both at the same time in the game.
  • We have completed the first iteration of the terrain controller. This terrain controller generates the landscape in a procedural manner, selecting from predefined road sections with adjacent buildings and some randomly placed cars.
  • Created 5 "procedural blocks" . You can see cars and buildings automatically generated using 5 base blocks. The procedural blocks append to the end of the previous one, like a conveyer belt.
  • The Terrain Controller only renders 8 blocks from the position of the player, and one behind.

Added an skybox.

View from the inside of the car.

In terms of UI, we have made the following improvements:

  •  We added a global theme to the game, ensuring that all text now uses the same font.
  •  We included instructions for each scene to guide you on which input to use.
  •  We added a background to the pedals and gear shift scenes.

Stay tuned for a new demo tomorrow! :D
